Well adding a new race might cause implication story wise but never forget the powerful factor that is "Deus Ex Machina" they might find something that brings them back to even greater power or maybe play the old cliché and a new race will appear from the other side of space.

I think it would be fun gameplay wise to add a new race (It also seems like the typical evolution of a RTS game to add a new race)
But story wise it seems wrong to me. But ultimately people buy games for the gameplay (especially when it comes to RTS game) not the story.

ah well yeah i do it for both i like seeing a plot/story line advance but i also want game advance but as long as they dont do what they didnt in wc3 with the whole naga there but you cant play in single or multyplayer games which ticked me off... other then that as long as they make it a cool entrance into the story line i would be happy with the new race otherwise yeah no new race if it sucks in the story line

The problem with the same races, is that everyone has been there done that! what next they all rally once again and try and defeat the zerg and fail mesierably again?? i dont think so. If that was the case they wouldnt need a new sc game they could just make another expansion set. B/C really who wants to try once again to defeat the zerg it would be the same old sc just new graphics, and a few changed units BORING...

true true so something is going to happen thats going to cause the races to fight something else otherwise like you said its pointless to play the campaign... either a new zerg race will be formed somewhere and rise against kerrigan and she joins with them or zeratul will end up doing something or a new race will arise

Yeah I think the story line will be somewhere along the lines of this. The UED hearing about defeat sends more ships to save Earth, The zerg now under kerrigans power will just sit on Char or the few planets they control and build up. The rest of the terran will probably run and try to rebuild and come up with some amazing new technology. All the while the Protoss will be finding there way and working with the dark/light protoss to become a huge race that can survive... Then the Xel-Naga will show there face, Mad at everyone and everything that destroyed there brothers and sisters that created the zerg and protoss. So of course all the races will have to deal with the hatred between themselves and try and fend off the Xel-Naga. At the end there will be no victor, just massive losses on all sides and all that are left will run, hide and survive. Sorry if this dont make much since, i was in a hurry writing this!
