SC2 plot should not follow Warcraft's model
I know it might sound a bit silly, but the straightforward linear plot of StarCraft and StarCraft:BW was much more enjoyable than the multitude of characters, millenia-spanning history of Warcraft 2/3, that was integrated into the massive plot.
There is a reason why Kerrigan was voted #2 best Game villain of all time, and Tassadar's suicide as the best game ending.
By focusing on what is important and clear, and removing the not-so-important details from the game plot, Blizzard created something nearly perfect in terms of game plot.
I hope they don't go all Warcraft on our asses, just to c cash in on the background when World of StarCraft is launched. (400$ says it's launced within 10 years)

I completely agree. This is partly why StarCraft had such an engaging plot. I have no doubt the same formula will be present in the sequel.
Anyway, nice insight into the game.

LoL I'd say less. Though it works fine with warcraft, its that kind of setting. It wouldnt' work well with starcraft.

I don't think that Starcraft II will stray too far from the linear plot system of SC and SC:BW. In Warcraft III, Blizzard had to introduce 3 or four heroes per race because the heroes were used in multiplayer, and this is what really cluttered the WC III plot. Since heroes will not be available in multiplayer (barring UMS, of course), I think it unlikely that Blizzard would clutter the plot with a bunch of super-power heroes in the campaign.
